Overview of Overdraft Regulations
Banking regulations require that the bank obtain
your authorization before charging fees for certain types of transactions
that result in an overdraft to your account.

Why Is This Important To Me?
Your Overdraft Privilege coverage will be incomplete if you do not OPT IN, whereby
transactions (that would create an overdraft) made with your Debit/ATM card,
whether it’s at an ATM or at a point-of-sale terminal (such as at a gas
station, grocery store, restaurant, etc.), will be DECLINED unless you OPT
IN.
NOTE: We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not
guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.
Fees and Other Options
While there is no cost to OPT IN, we will charge you a fee
per the bank's
current fee schedule each time we pay an overdraft, with an
additional
daily fee if your account is overdrawn for 5 or more consecutive
business days, with no limit on the total fees we can charge. As a
supplement or alternative to Overdraft Privilege, we also offer “Sweep”
protection, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft
practices. To learn more, ask us about this option.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) |
1) Why should I OPT IN?
If you wish to have your Overdraft Privilege included in the
authorization of your Debit/ATM card transactions, you will want to
OPT IN. For those times when you really need it, for the cost of a
standard overdraft fee, you will avoid the inconvenience of a
declined ATM transaction or the embarrassment and inconvenience of a
declined debit card transaction at the point of sale terminal (such
as at a gas station, grocery store, restaurant, etc.). |
2) Are there any costs or fees?
There is NO cost or fee associated with your decision to
OPT IN – you’re simply making a decision as to how your Overdraft
Privilege protection will be applied in the future. As always,
overdraft fees are only charged when you generate an overdraft to
your eligible account. |
3) When do I have to make a decision?
You can OPT IN at any
time. |
4) Why would I not OPT IN?
You may not wish to OPT IN if you don’t want to risk having an
“everyday” Debit/ATM card transaction creating an overdraft and the
expense of an overdraft fee. However, these transactions will
instead be declined. |
5) What if I change my mind?
If you OPT IN and later change your mind, you can reverse your
decision at any time without cost or penalty. |
6) Can I OPT IN once for all of my
eligible accounts?
No. You must supply an OPT IN for each eligible
account. |
7) If an account has multiple owners,
do we ALL have to OPT IN?
No. One owner may OPT IN at any time for joint accounts. |
8) Are there other Overdraft
Protection options?
Yes. Please see our Overdraft Protection brochure or speak with a
bank employee to discuss your options. |
9) How can I monitor my accounts
better to avoid overdrafts?
We offer several options to help you keep track of your finances.
