Check21 is a federal law (effective as of October 28, 2004) designed to enable banks to handle more checks electronically, which should make check processing faster and more efficient. Instead of physically moving paper checks from one bank to another, banks can now capture a picture of the front and back of the check along with the associated payment information and transmit this information electronically.
While this may not seem too important to you, it can affect you in several ways. To learn more about this process and its possible effects on you, please review the information on the Federal Reserve’s website. With questions about how this affects your American Savings accounts, please contact a representative.
